Mrs. Sgroi's Fourth GradeB Classroom

         Fourth grade is a transitional year, and you will notice a growth in your child’s academic abilities. Not only will there be a growth in academics, but you will also begin to notice some emotional and physical changes . Also this year, your child should develop good note-taking skills and study habits. Your child is also expected to take on the responsibility of completing homework on time and studying for tests as needed. 

     This year your child will be exploring the Beatitudes, the Ten Commandments, the Works of Mercy, the Law of Love, and how they pertain to their lives today. They will also discover how the Holy Spirit is their Spiritual Guide.  We will put the above concepts into action to bring love, peace, and justice into God’s Kingdom. Through understanding the concept of our school theme, the student will grow in knowledge of our faith in their daily life.

     New Jersey history will be studied as well as its relation to our country and the world. Studying about New Jersey is an exciting adventure since many students already have some knowledge about their state. They will learn the importance New Jersey has in their lives. The science curriculum will focus on life, earth, and physical science. The students will become adept at multi-digit subtraction and addition. They will feel very confident in their ability to multiply and divide. Our Language Arts Program is a theme based, whole language, whole class approach. 

      Some goals the students will achieve are to accept the responsibilities of their actions, to be able to do homework, and to begin to study independently. These goals will be implemented in a Christian atmosphere of love, understanding, and justice. The students full participation will insure a positive fourth grade experience.  Only with your support can these goals be accomplished.
