KA Spread's the Good News

Mrs. Murtaugh's KindergartenA Classroom

We often sing,

"From the top of my head to the end of my toes, I know that God Loves me!  From my finger tips to the smile on my lips, I know that God Loves me!"

Learning about our bodies, our five senses, our feelings, and ourselves has helped us more fully understand the true meaning of these words.  Our Unit, All About Me, has given us the opportunity to recognize and better learn how to use these Gifts from God to explore and experience God's World.  Sharing these gifts with others is an easy way to "Spread the Good News".  We learned that it takes more muscles to frown than to smile?  So, we smiled more and found that smiling can be more contagious than a head cold and it also makes others happier too!

Preparing for Thanksgiving gave us a chance to share beyond our classroom and into our Church family and local community by participating in the Parish Food Drive.  It was fun to watch how our empty basket became filled with enough food to make an entire dinner for a family in need.

Preparing for and celebrating God's greatest gift to the world, Jesus, gave us the opportunity to  spread God's Word when we collected Toys for Tots.  Learning songs of praise and studying the customs of children around the world will fill the Advent and Christmas seasons.

Recognizing seasonal changes and waiting for winter to come upon us  gave us the opportunity to study how animals and people prepare for winter too.

In math we will manipulate plane and solid shapes, read, write, represent and use numbers 0-20.  Time. measuring and comparing weight, length and capacity will follow.
