Mrs. Nolan's Sixth GradeB Classroom

THANKS FOR VISITING 6B'S WEB PAGE!  We have been enjoying an exciting year filled many creative and challenging opportunities in all subject areas.  Our Promethean Board has been used to enhance our overall learning experience.  Thanks for all the parental support.  Hopefully, all are enjoying a rewarding and God-centered sixth grade year.

Four R's (Tips) To Be a Successful 6th Grade Student

  1. RESPECT yourself, parents, teachers, others, and their belongings.
  2. RESPONSIBILITY for your actions and all you do.
  3. READINESS with all needed materials, ready to work and follow directions.
  4. RESOURCEFULNESS by being able to adapt and overcome.

We are learning in Religion that our mission today is to continue to help God's Kingdom grow by serving others and spreading His message of "Good News". During the next forty days of Lent, we will be preparing our hearts for the risen Lord on Easter through prayer, sacrifice, and good works.

In Math class we are beginning our unit on fractions. We will begin with a review of the divisibility rules, prime factorization, and simplifying fractions. These concepts will be followed by adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions.

In ILA, the students are enjoying the anthology Tell Me a Tale which focuses on the great literature of ancient Greece such as myths and fables.

Our study of Ancient Greece will begin in Social Studies.  We will learn about the history and culture of this great civilization.  By using our textbook and research, the students will be creating powerpoints which will highlight the growth of city-states, the first democracy, great works of literature, and how can we forget the birthplace of the first Olympic Games.  Hopefully all will enjoy this wonderful unit, so "Let the games begin!"
